NLBM 2022 - Day 07
Unfortunately we had to leave Mike and Karin's today. They have a
great house and are incredibly gracious hosts. We always love to come
here for a visit.
Today was not a bad day on the roads but
would would have been another excellent day except for some very strong
winds. Google suggested we take I-94 to Fargo and then head south on
I-29 to get to our final destination today - Brookings SD. We decided
we had enough of Interstates and we would attempt to minimize them so
we only took _94 to Jamestown and then picked up US 281. We then took
US 281 to US 12 and took that east to eventually pick up I-29. That
gave us only half the trip on Interstates and the other half on
secondary roads. US 281 was amazing, excellent road and almost no
traffic to speak of. Unfortunately we encountered really strong side
winds on US 12 and we had to lean into the winds the whole way.
Along the way we stopped at a Wylie Park
in Aberdeen, SD for lunch. The park was huge. There was a campground
but it also had go carts, miniature golf, a water park, trains, hiking,
and just lots of activities. We found a nice picnic table in the shade
and had a great lunch that Mike provided.
We are staying at the Brookings Inn in Brookings, SD for the evening and the Inn has an indoor water park which includes a pool and a hot tub - which we definitely made use of when we arrived.
Tomorrow we head to Kansas City where we plan to visit the museum Wednesday.
