We got a pretty early start from Sandpoint.  The weather was cool as we headed for Glacier National Park on Route 2.  The scenery was quite nice and we saw 4 deer along the way.  The bad news is that they were all dead on the side of the  road.  The good news is that we weren't the ones that caused that condition.  I wouldn't give us much of a chance in a collision with a full grown deer but probably better on three wheels than two.

We arrived at Glacier and stopped at the Apgar Visitor Center at the west end of the park for a short break and to eat lunch.  Although all of the roads in the park were open, Route 2 around the south side of the park had just re-opened and was only accessible via pilot cars.  From there we road the Going to the Sun Road to the top of Logan's Pass where we also stopped to enjoy the view.  The ride was nice but there were three fires currently burning in the park and there was a heavy layer of smoke over much of the ride.  You can see the smoke in many of the pictures although, surprisingly we did hit a few clear patches.  We have taken this road numerous times and have always enjoyed it - even with the smoke.  We expected it to be cool at the top of the pass and were pleasantly surpised to find that it was very pleasant - about 65 degrees and sunny.

From there we road to the St. Mary Visitor Center on the east side of the park where we exited the park and once again headed for Route 2 and finished our ride for the day in Shelby, Montana.
