Well the first day of another trip is in the books. The ride was fine today. We left about 10:15 and the first 30 miles was a slog. We decided to stay off Interstates as much as possible and Google Maps took us through Bothell, Woodinville, Redmond and Issaquah before we finally got some open roads. Then it was another 30 miles to Enumclaw where we picked up Route 410 which is apparently a relatively famous motorcycle road - I did not know that. The route takes you through part of Mount Rainier National Park as well as Cayuse Pass and Chinook Pass before ending a little before Yakima. Althought there were a ton of people in the park and on the trails and so forth, there was surpisingly little traffic on the roads so we didn't have any slow downs.

The bad part was that I had the same problem that I had at the very end of the last day of last year's ride. We have a data logger that reads GPS position as well as temperature and altitude and writes the data to an SD card. It seems that at some point in time, although the GPS was sending out data, the logger just stopped logging. It looks like it may have been when we stopped for lunch. The next time we stopped and then restarted the bike, the logger resumed logging. I'll have to keep an eye on that the next couple of days. We are staying in Biggs Junction, OR at an OK hotel but definitely a 2 star at best.

Tomorrow's destination is Klamath Falls and again we plan to stay off of main Interstates and main highways. If all goes well we will probably take a swing through Crater Lake on the way.
