We had a great visit with Mike and Karin, including a neighborhood fireworks show on the 3rd and then the Bismarck/Mandan Symphony on the 4th followed by another fireworks show. The weather was comfortable most of the time with an occasional rain shower. They have a great house and a great location - here's a view from their deck.

We left Mandan around 9:00 and headed for Billings on what would be our longest day so far and probably the longest for the whole trip. The ride was uneventful for the most part. The only issue was that we got off I 94 in Medora to get gas and when we went back to the intersection where we got off there was no entrance going West. We ended up getting back on going east and then pretended we were an authorized vehicle and used one of the crossovers in the median. We didn't expect any trouble because the traffic on I 94 was very light and when we crossed over, we couldn't see any other vehicles in either direction.

Tomorrow we head for the Beartooth Highway and Beartooth Pass and then on to the east entrance to Yellowstone. This is one of our favorite rides and our favorite entrance to Yellowstone. We are staying in West Yellowstone tomorrow night and the ride in only a little over 200 miles. That should give us more time to spend in Yellowstone with all of the massive crowds.

From there we ill head for Craters of the Moon National Monument, Shoshone Falls and our destination in Twin Falls, ID.
