Today was a definite improvement over yesterday. Although it rained early in the morning, it had stopped by the time we left. Even so, the skys were threatening and it was a little chilly so we still wore our rain gear. By the time we stopped for lunch it had warmed up enough that we could dispense with the gear.

Although we have been in this part of the country numerous times we had never been in Pocatello where we are staying tonight. We went this way to avoid the ride from Rupert, ID to Tremonton, UT. This is a virtual desert, there is absolutely nothing there including gas stations.

We had been a little concerned about traffic since this was a holiday weekend and today was Labor Day. Fortunately the roads were mostly clear and we ran into very little traffic and only a modest number of construction zones. I have always disliked the ride on I84 through Boise but they have made considerable improvements since I was through there the last time. I84 now goes around Boise and I184 follows the old route through town - nice change. I don't think we'll be that lucky tomorrow going through Salt Lake City.

Nothing new on the cruise control saga. It's still acting the same. The good news is I can usually go through 10 and 20 mile stretches before it disengages. The other good news is that the bike is running great. The new front tire and new brakes are working fine and the bike rides as smooth as ever.

Linda took a few pictures today mostly to get back into practice. The picture of the gas pump is because Linda said she didn't think she had ever seen a price that high on a pump.

Tomorrow it's off to Moab, UT and apparently very hot temperatures..
