Well the first day of our second trip is complete. All in all it was
pretty uneventful. The temperature was reasonable, the traffic wasn't
too bad, and we had no rain. That's about all you can ask for on a motorcycle trip.
We
had two minor issues. The first was that I missed the Ellensburg exit
where we usually stop for gas and we had to turn around and come back
because that meant we also missed the exit for I-82. We only went 5
miles past our exit before we realized our error so that wasn't too
bad. Then when we got to Pendleton we stopped for gas and, while I was
filling the tank, the nozzle stuck open. Apparently the spring which
holds back the little ever that locks the nozzle open for hands free
operation had broken and was stuck in the open position. Fortunately an
attendant was right there and unclipped the lever but not before
spilling about a gallon and a half on the ground. The irritating thing
is that they knew the handle was broken and didn't tell anyone or even
lock out the pump. TI know they knew because they told me that someone
was already scheduled to come out to fix it tomorrow.
To
top the night off we went to a Shari's for dinner since it was
basically across the street from our motel. Shari's is known for their
pies but they had no pies. Linda wanted soup and they were out of soup
and I wanted lemonade but they were out of that as well.
Needless to say, I don't think we will be stopping here again any time soon.
Finally, as you can see, my GPS logger worked great.
