We're getting ready to head out for our annual motorcycle trip. We had originally planned to head for Hyder, Alaska since we have ridden in the other 49 states and are only missing Alaska. Unfortunately we weren't able to go in July when the weather would have been best because we were on an East Coast Baseball Tour with Diamond Baseball Tours. By the time we were ready in August the weather had already started to turn. When we checked in the morning a few days ago the temperature in Hyder was 34 degrees - not very conducive to motorcycle riding.
Anyway, since we had to skip a trip to Yosemite a few years ago because of the fires, we decided we would try again. We are planning to head down I-5 to Olympia and then turn west and eventually pick up 101 down the Washington and Oregon coast. We have ridden down the coast several times but not for quite a few years so we're looking forward to do it again. We have also visited Yosemite before but we haven't been there for 25 years.
On the way to Yosemite we plan to stop and stay in Seaside, OR, Bandon, OR, and Red Bluff, CA. Along the way we also plan a stop at the Redwood National Park. That's the only definite stop but I'm sure we'll make others along the way.
We are planning 2 days in Yosemite and the we'll have to decide on a route home. The route will probably depend on the weather and how we're feeling.
