2019 Trip - Day 10
Today was special. We don't always get great rides every day when we are out and today we got two great rides - the Bighorn Scenic Byway and the Beartooth Highway.
We had never ridden the Bighorn route before but it looked like it
might be good on the map and it was magnificent. The weather was
perfect, there was very little traffic and the scenery was incredible,
not to mention it was a great motorcycle rode. The ride is through the
Big Horn mountains and peaks at about 9,360 feet.
The
Beartooth Highway is on route 212 in Montana and Wyoming and goes from
Red Lodge to Cooke City and the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone. We
have ridden this route twice before but both times it was rainy and
cold.In fact the first time we got sleet at the top of the pass. The
pass is at 10,947 feet and was amazing. This ride is a bucket list ride
for many bikers and I can see why.
Linda took lots of pictures but, because it was hot out, there was a haze in the background on many of them.
We
are spending the night in Cooke City and heading for Yellowstone in the
morning. Unfortunately Internet service is slow and spotty so no
uploads tonight. Hopefully we'll have better connections tomorrow.
