2019 Trip - Day 05
Today we headed for Mandan to spend some time with Mike and Karin. Most
of the ride was uninspiring but I-94 goes through Medora and the
entrance to the south section of Theodore Roosevelt National Park so,
since we had not previously been to this section of the park, we
definitely wanted to stop.
The
park was quite different from our experience in Glacier. There were
definitely fewer people and we had no problem finding parking spots at
the visitor center. We enjoyed a short video about the park at the
visitor center and then headed out for a little exploring of the park.
The park has a scenic loop road which we would have enjoyed but part of
the road washed out at some time so the loop as closed at that point.
So we did an out and back and had a nice time. Not a lot of wildlife at
that time of the afternoon but we did see one bison and numerous
prairie dogs.
We got to Make and Karin's late afternoon and
it was great to see them. We are looking forward to spending a few days
with them and resting up for the second half of the trip.
