LA or Bust-Day 20
What a difference a day makes. There wasn't a cloud in the
sky as we left this morning and it was pretty much the same all day.
We stuck with I-80 and I-84 all day. We're both tired and
ready to get home. We made another 548 miles today and are
staying in Mountain Home, Idaho. It looks like one more 550 mile
day will get us home. This should not be a problem, especially
since we gain a final hour tomorrow as we cross into Oregon.
The
temperatures above are correct. We started out around 50 degrees
this morning and, as we were closing on on our final destination, the
temperature topped out at 94.9. We never would have guessed it
would get that warm today - but we certainly aren't complaining.
We wouldn't mind another day like this tomorrow.
The
bike ran great so bad gas was most certainly our problem yesterday.
We put one more tank of high octane gas in this morning, just to
be sure, and then went back to regular. The last couple of
days at 75 miles per hour and some strong headwinds has certainly made
a dent in our mileage for the trip. We were averaging better than
40 miles per gallon up until Wednesday but are now down to 38+.
We'll look at this in more detail after the trip is over and we
do a wrap-up.
Lots more windmills today. Some people
think that they are a blemish on the environment but I personally don't
mind them and think they look good. We really enjoyed the scenery
in Utah and even into Idaho and Linda got some really nice pictures
since the trees are strating to change and the colors are very cool.
