We are in Kadoka, SD. If you've never heard of it that's not too surprising. The population as of 2020 was 543 and the only reason we are staying here is that it is approximately 400 miles from our last hotel in Redwood Falls. There are only 2 restaurants listed here and one is right outside our hotel so that's where we ate tonight. We're staying at an America's Best Value Inn and at $99.00 it's the cheapest room we have stayed in for years. There are not too many amenities but it is clean and quiet.

Today was a slog - 63 more miles on US-71 and then the rest on I-90. The good thing is that it was dry and very comfortable temperature wise. The bad thing is that we are planning 476 miles tomorrow, the longest day we have had in years. There is a route that is shorter by 50 miles but only 10 minutes shorter in time. The shorter route takes us through much less inhabited areas and rural roads. If we take the longer route, we are on I-90 all day with guaranteed rest areas and gas stops. We will probably need those gas stops since I am going to try to up our speed a little. The speed limit is 80 and we have been doing 70 which means we have a lot more people passing us.

Not much good to say about today's ride. There was a lot of construction but it didn't slow us down all that much. We also had a brief slow down when we encountered a load of hay that had been dumped on I-90. Fortunately it only covered one lane and we were able to get around it. We also saw the many South Dakota Veterans Memorial (site seems to have some serious HTML issues) on one of our gas stops as well as the Dignity Statue outside of Chamberlain, SD which honors the Lakota and Dakota people.

Tomorrow we will be staying in Laurel, MT and we have already booked a much nicer room for the night.
