Voyageurs 2025 Day04
We spent a couple of very enjoyable and restful days with Mike
and Karin in Mandan. The weather was comfortable and not too hot so we
enjoyed that. We also got a tour of the North Dakota Heritage Center
which was amazing. We spent several hours there and still didn't come
close to seeing everything there is to see. We have been there before
but it has been greatly expanded and is well worth the visit. Mike and
Karin were gracious hosts and we always enjoy spending time with them.
We
are currently in Bemidji, Minnesota, a place I can honestly say we
have never been before or even wanted to visit. We got a little turned
around coming into town and it took us a little time to actually find
our hotel. We got into some kind of dead spot and had to ride around to
get better coverage before we could use Google maps to rescue us. In
the process we missed a picture of the statue of Paul Bunyan and the
famous blue ox - maybe we'll get another shot on the way out of town.
The ride itself was cool and completely uneventful.
Tomorrow
we head for Voyageurs National Park and the Rainy Lake Visitor Center.
We hope to find out more about the park and maybe take a hike or two.
Apparently the park is mostly all about the water and the lakes. There
are park guided boat tours but they are reserved months in advance and
our only hope for one of those is someone cancels or doesn't show.
