We left Naperville this morning in light fog and cool temperatures. We decided to take I-88 west (even though it is a toll road), figuring there would be less traffic and fewer trucks. From there we picked up I-80 and stayed on it all day. It was still rather cloudy and foggy when we crossed the Mississippi as the pictures show. Eventually, the sun came out and it turned into a good day for riding. So that is just what we did for 541 miles. The most exciting site we encountered were windmills - lots of windmills - in the middle of nowhere. But then most of Nebraska feels like the middle of nowhere. One field of corn looks pretty much like the next. We ended up going further than we planned because we decided to take advantage of the good weather, light traffic and a 75 mph speed limit.

We will probably stay on I-80 tomorrow.  US Route 30 runs parallel to I-80 but I don't think we will see anything different than on I-80 and it would be quite a bit slower due to having to slow down for small towns, etc.  There's also the psychological factor.  Once we have left from our final destination and are pointing towards home, it's hard to do anything else.

We have a very nice motel tonight with an indoor pool, hot tub, and great wireless connection.  Off to the hot tub.
